The meaning of dhatu in Sanskrit is:
- पदार्थ का मूल तत्त्व। : Padaarth ka mula tatv.
Meaning: the source of a substance.
So,
I am a human being (substance) and what is this substance made from?
The answer for this question is in Dhatu siddhanta
According to Ayurveda there are 7 primary bodily tissues called sapthadhatus,
and 1 in addition, which is not visible but very much real called ‘Ojas’.
The Sapthadhatus are:
Rasa: Plasma
Rakta: Blood
Mamsa: Muscle
Meda: Fat
Asthi: Bone
Majja: Nervous Tissue
Shukra & Arthava: Male & Female Reproductive Tissues

These seven dhatus are responsible for the entire structure and function of the body.
For healthy dhatus it’s very important to balance the doshas.
Are your doshas in balance?
To know more about yourself and doshas take the tridosha test.
