According to Ayurveda, the entire cosmos is an interplay of the five elemental energies
Ether, Air, Fire, Water, Earth.
These 5 elements are grouped into three basic types of functional principles.
They are present in everybody and everything.
Vata, pitta and kapha, called tridosha

Here, Dosha is organization.
When the doshas are normal, they maintain a harmonious psychophysiology.
When they go out of balance, they harm the dhatus (bodily tissues) and then they become dosha (here meaning impurity).
So, if the doshas are out of balance, they cause disease.
But when balanced, they supervise pathological changes and psychophysiological response.
The tridoshas bind the five elements into the body.
Ayurveda believe that the tridoshas are the medium for DNA, which forms the blueprint for the physiology.
They manifest as a primary energy.
The energy of tridosha:
The Energy is vital to create movement in the body so that,
The fluids and nutrients get to the cells,
It enables the body to function
It metabolise the nutrients in the cells
To lubricate and maintain cellular structure.
Vata is the energy of movement,
Pitta is the energy of transformation, digestion or metabolism.
Kapha is the energy of lubrication and structure.
The tridoshas are composed of all five elements, with two predominant elements in each.
Vata : composed of Ether and Air.
When balanced : it promotes creativity and flexibility.
Out of balance : it produces fear, anxiety, and abnormal movements.
Pitta : Composed of Fire and Water, it expresses as the body’s metabolic system. If balanced , it promotes understanding and intelligence. Out of balance, pitta arouses anger, hatred, jealousy, and inflammatory disorders.
Kapha : Composed of Earth and Water.
When balanced : it is expressed as love, calmness, and forgiveness.
Out of balance : it leads to attachment, greed, possessiveness, and congestive disorders.
